Guru Pournima Celebrations

The Students’ Council of Vidya Prabodhini College of Commerce, Education, Computer and Management, Parvari, Goa celebrated Guru Pornima on 10st July, 2017 at Krida Prabodhini. The programme started with a meditation session and prayer by Mr. Arun R. Marathe, Assistant Professor in Commerce. Dr. M.R. Patil, Principal, welcomed the gathering and explained the importance of Guru Pornima in a student’s life and also introduced the Chief Guest Shri. Subhash Pal, Teacher at Purushottam Walawalkar Junior College, Mapusa-Goa. Shri. Subhash Pal, Chief Guest and Resource Person, Dr. M.R. Patil, Principal, Dr. Sukhaji G. Naik, Vice-Principal, Shri. Pinkesh D. Dhabolkar, faculty members, support staff and students offered flowers to the photo of Maharishi Vyas. In his speech, Chief Guest Shri. Subhash Pal explained the meaning of word Guru. He said ‘Gu’ stands for darkness and ‘Ru’ for removal of darkness. He said that we should always pay respect to those who guided and advised us in our life. He advised the students to be away from all the distraction and work hard to improve their concentration. He said that if one builds good concentration than no subject is difficult. He appreciated the College for celebrating Guru Pornima. He said that teachings of Maharishi Vyas are very popular in guiding the world. He gave many examples of Guru and Shishya tradition in India. He said that a teacher always selflessly work for development of the student. The programme ended with thanks by Shri. Pinkesh D. Dhabolkar, Convenor of Students’ Council.
