International Yog Day

Prabodhan Education Society’s Vidya Prabodhini College celebrated 3rd International Yoga Day on 21st June, 2017 at Krida Prabodhini, Parvari-Goa. Mr. Sunny R. Kanekar, Director of Sports and Physical Education of the College welcomed Dr. M.R.Patil, Principal, Dr. Sukhaji G. Naik Vice-Principal, Faculty members and Students for the Function. In his welcome address, he said that Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body. June 21 was declared as the International Day of Yoga by the United Nations General Assembly. In order to celebrate the precious day, the college has arranged a training and practice session for students. Dr. M.R.Patil, Principal of the College wished all the Teachers and Students on the occasion of 3rd International Yoga Day. He said that Yoga provides a holistic approach to good health and well-being.

Dr. Sukhaji G. Naik, Vice Principal of the College said that Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice attributed mostly to India. The Indian Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi in his UN Address suggested June 21, as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares special significance in many parts of the world. Almost 192 nations supported this initiative, leading to the UN officially declaring June 21 as International Yoga Day.

Faculty Members and forty Students participated in Yoga session held under the guidance of Ms. P. Jyoti Kiran, Assistant Professor in English and Mr. Sunny R. Kanekar, Director of Sports and Physical Education of the College. The function ended with thanks by Mr. Rudresh U. Mhamal, Assistant Professor in Commerce and NSS Convenor.
