Workshop on Soft Skills
The Education Department of Vidya Prabodhini College, Parvati Goa organised a one day workshop on 'Life skills' in collaboration with 'District Mental Health Programme' of North District Hospital Mapusa Goa. The workshop was conducted for the students of Final Year BABED programme.

The inaugural function began with an address to the gathering by the Principal of the college Dr. M. R. Patil, who briefed the students about the importance of acquiring life skills through experience. He urged students upon the fact that they should learn to develop the skill of anger management and to handle their weaknesses. This was followed by lighting of the traditional lamp by the dignitaries. Invited guests were presented with flower saplings as a token of love and gratitude. The chief guest for the workshop, Dr. Shaheen Sayyad, spoke about the recent works of DMHP cell in North Goa district. She compared life skills as being the capacity to nurture one's future. By addressing the psychologists and counselors as mind specialists or mind doctors, she tried to build a rapport with the listeners. The one-day workshop followed a five module programme. Chief resource person Dr. Rupesh Patkar, volunteers Melisha Dias, Ashwini Naik, Dr. Durga Chari, conducted various activities with the students. These activities highlighted the importance of developing the right abilities in adolescents.
The different life skills dealt with in this workshop included Decision Making, Stress Management, Problem Solving, Suicide Prevention and Anger Management. Active participation of the students was encouraged by the volunteers through group discussions, questionnaires, games and role play. At the valedictory function of the programme, Assistant professor Kuldeep Kamat praised the resource person Dr. Rupesh Patkars commitment for social service and also thanked him for conducting the workshop. Compering of the programme was done by Miss Sakshi Pandit and Miss Pooja Gawas. Miss Aditi Bhat proposed the vote is thanks. Feedback of the workshop was shared by Mansi Dhauskar, Alisha Gadekar and Shridhar Raut.
