RED RIBBON CLUB

The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) is a Voluntary on-campus intervention program for students in educational institutions. It is initiated and supported by the Goa State AIDS Control Society (GSACS) and implemented through multi-sectoral collaboration, particularly using the services of cadre officers of the State National Service Schemes (NSS).

The RRC aims at harnessing the potential of the youth by equipping them with correct information on HIV/AIDS prevention, Care, Support and treatment. It also aims in building their capacities as peer educators in spreading messages on positive health behaviour in an enabling environment and increasing voluntary blood donation from among youth.

The RRC works to reduce new HIV infection among youth by raising their risk perception through awareness on Sex, Sexuality and HIV & AIDS and also to induce among youth the spirit to help and support People living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) there by reducing stigma and discrimination against PLHIVs.

Further RRC also helps to promote Voluntary non-remunerated Blood Donation among youth.

The students and the faculty members of the institution are encouraged to voluntarily donate blood during blood donation camp organized by the institution and also on the formal request on the college office number 08322410500 during emergencies occurred in Govt. as well as Pvt. Hospitals.

The RRC unit of the college organizes various activities related to HIV/AIDS, and Blood Donation awareness in order to induce knowledge about the same among college students. The RRC unit of the college felicitates the blood donors who donates blood during emergencies. The RRC Unit also gives the publicity to the blood donors by displaying congratulatory message on the college screen.

The RRC Unit has displayed the list of the blood donors on the college website as well as on the notice board.
